Camlock, commonly referred to as cam and groove coupling or cam-type quick coupling, is a pipe fitting that enables rapid assembly and disassembly without tools. It is widely used in various fields. Below is a detailed introduction:
Structure and Working Principle
A Camlock fitting consists of a male adapter (male end), a female coupler (female end), and cam arms. For connection, insert the male end into the female end, pull down the two cam arms to fit them into the grooves of the male end, and compress the internal flat elastic seal to achieve a sealed connection. A safety pin prevents accidental opening of the cam arms.
Types
According to the American military standard Mil-C-27487, Camlock fittings are classified into types A, B, C, D, E, F, DC, DP, etc. Specifically, Type A is a female end with internal threads, Type B is a male end with external threads and cam arms, Type C is a female hose tail, Type D is a female end with internal threads and cam arms, and so on.
Materials
Common materials include aluminum, stainless steel (e.g., 304, 316), brass, polypropylene, glass fiber reinforced nylon, etc. Different materials are suitable for different working environments and media: stainless steel is corrosion-resistant for the chemical industry, while aluminum is lightweight for agricultural irrigation.
Sizes
The size range is usually from 1/2 inch to 8 inches, meeting the requirements of different flow rates and pressures.
Application Fields
